It is hard to believe that modern medicine has the patient’s best interests in mind. This is not a stab at pharmaceutical companies but more towards doctors. Doctors strive to be the best in there fields and I order to do this some may turn towards unorthodox methods. A doctor could easily sell pills to drug abusers. A couple weeks ago a dentist was caught for exchanging sexual favor’s for hard pain killers. That is not what modern medicine is supposed to be for. Modern medicine is supposed to be for the good of the patient. Modern medicine should be to cure diseases and be a marvel created by man.
The creation of medicine is another big topic. Doctors want fame and fortune. This is the case with Dr.freedman. He wanted to find a cure for mental illness. He spent years studying the human mind in order to find an answer. Finally he discovered something thanks to a foreign doctor. Dr. Freedman came up with lobotomies. This is where ice picks are put into the eyes sockets to fix a patient. Dr. Freedman was loved for this. Doctors everywhere though the idea was brilliant. However, his lobotomies got out of hand and some died during surgery. People started to discredit him. Dr. freedman only did this to become famous, he forgot what the true goal was. The true goal was to help mental patients.
Some doctors actually do have the patient’s best interest in mind. Some spend hours a day trying to figure out cures. Modern medicine has come a long way from traditional medicine. Medicine has always been a way to help people. Doctors obviously chose the position so that they could make new discoveries to treat people. Modern medicine has heart behind it and it’s all because of doctors.
